The MCH Group is a leading international group of live-marketing companies with a comprehensive services network spanning the entire exhibition and event market. It creates effective and efficient marketing platforms in the form of internationally and nationally leading exhibitions. And it offers bespoke marketing solutions for successful participation in exhibitions and also for other corporate and public events of all kinds – all over the world.
The MCH Group has its roots in the "Schweizer Mustermesse" (Swiss Sample Fair) which was established in Basel in 1916 and later became Messe Basel. The MCH Group takes in the exhibition companies in Basel, Zurich and Lausanne and several companies in the fields of "Live Marketing Solutions". The holding company, MCH Group Ltd., with its head office in Basel, is a joint stock company with the participation of public sector entities under the terms of Article 762 of the Swiss Code of Obligations. It is listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange. The company group has around 730 permanent employees.

Live Marketing Solutions

The MCH Group offers customised marketing solutions in the areas of consulting, strategy, conception, creation, planning and production. With its live marketing solutions it is active beyond the exhibition sector, covering other corporate events (presentations, general meetings and company occasions) and also public events in the fields of culture, sport and society. And it is active all over the world.

Exhibitions & Events

The MCH Group's exhibition companies stage around 40 exhibitions, including the globally leading Baselworld show, and Art Basel in Basel, Miami Beach and Hong Kong. The MCH exhibitions also include a large number of other well-known fairs, such as Swissbau, Igeho, Giardina, SWISS-MOTO, Muba, Züspa and Comptoir Suisse. A further 50 additional exhibitions are held in Basel, Lausanne and Zurich by third-party organisers. Added to this come a large number of additional events: leading international congresses, well-known concerts, such as the Baloise Session, and company events of all kinds.


The MCH Group offers state-of-the-art event infrastructures for exhibitions, congresses and corporate and public events of all kinds in Basel, Lausanne and Zurich. Basel is the biggest and most important exhibition location in Switzerland and one of the key locations in Europe. Messe Basel comprises in five halls an overall exhibition area of 141,000 m2. In Basel, Lausanne and Zurich, some 75 exhibitions, 30 congresses and more than 1000 other events are held there each year. Together, they attract some 2.5 million visitors.

Performance and Market Position

In 2015, the MCH Group achieved operating income of CHF 416.4 million, an EBITDA of CHF 82.8 million., an EBIT of CHF 40.1 million and a profit of CHF 31.0 million. The "Exhibitions" division (MCH exhibitions) accounted for 71.2 % of group income, the "Venues" division (third-party events) 9.9 % and the "Live Marketing Solutions" division 18.9 %. Approximately two thirds of the group's income is achieved through services today, and only one third through the classic rental of exhibition space. Measured in terms of income, the MCH Group had a market share of 65 % in Switzerland in 2014. It came fifth in the rankings of the world's leading exhibition companies in 2014.

Objective and Strategy

The overriding objective of the MCH Group is to ensure its long-term business success for the benefit of all stakeholders. The main focus of the corporate strategy is on the further expansion of the products and services offered in the field of the marketing platforms and solutions (exhibitions and events, live marketing solutions), the further boosting of the international nature of the portfolio and the development of digital offerings to supplement and extend the group’s live - marketing business. The further development of the group is to be achieved both organically and through selective cooperation and acquisitions.
