FCB and Muba: two institutions for Basel

Muba and FC Basel have been making their mark on the city for many decades. It goes without saying that a close bond exists between the two. In the 1960s and 1970s, the championship game played during the Sample Fair was given a special name.
Switzerland's oldest fair and best football club have always enjoyed a special bond. In the 1960s and 70s already, football fans were able to combine a visit to the Muba fair with a home game for FC Basel. The team in red and blue regularly played in the Swiss Football Championship while Muba was running. This encounter during Muba was rapidly given a name of its own by the locals: the "exhibition match" attracted hordes of spectators to the Landhof and later to St. Jakob Park (known locally as the Joggeli).
Muba and FC Basel are more closely linked today than ever before. The Swiss champions are always present with a stand of their own. FCB professionals come by more than once for autograph sessions. And there's always enough time for a souvenir photo with the fans.
