    Smart classrooms, excursions to ancient Egypt by means of virtual reality: digitisation is opening up major opportunities in education but also confronting teaching staff with challenges. How can they help shape the digital transformation and what competences do they require? The answers can be found at didacta DIGITAL Swiss, our new meeting point for digitisation in education. From 28 to 30 November, new concepts and digital teaching resources, coding, robotics and infrastructure are being featured at Messe Basel for the first time.     Star chefs and robots, expert round-table discussions and gourmet tours, a new guest fair and about 650 exhibitors. The Swiss hospitality scene is meeting up at Igeho from 16 to 20 November. About 70,000 people from the hotel trade and the catering, take-away and care sectors are expected at Messe Basel. For Corinne Moser, this is her first Igeho as interim exhibition director and her fourth as head of communications. In this interview, she speaks about this year’s highlights, the organisational challenges and the influence of digitisation on the sector.

  • Swissbau 2018: a new high-tech Parliament Building for Bern

    Will the members of the Swiss parliament be present in the parliament building in the form of 3D holograms in future? Since the current parliament building is no long in keeping with the times, a new, digitalised high-tech building has to be created. It is being built from 16 to 20 January by the visitors to the Swissbau construction trade fair. This fictitious new building forms part of the special exhibition on digital transformation – the Swissbau Innovation Lab.

An increasing number of organisers are discovering live streaming for their events. As with all communication measures, clear aims have to be pursued here. The live content also holds potential for new business models.

    15 July 1916 was a day which brought decisive changes for Switzerland's trade fair industry. This was the day on which the government of the Canton of Basel-Stadt agreed to a samples fair being staged in Basel.  And it was out of this first fair that the current internationally operating MCH Group developed. Success that has been built on a foundation stone laid out of pure necessity during the first world war.
