You like playing on PlayStation, grew up with Super Mario and love being immersed in virtual reality? Then make sure you don't miss the first Zurich Game Show that is being staged in Messe Zürich from 20 to 22 October 2017. More than 120 exhibitors from the fields of gaming, eSports, cosplay and board games, together with 300 gaming stations, stars and premieres will be making this into the biggest Swiss fair of its kind. More than 20,000 fans are expected to attend. We set out the highlights for you below.
Super Mario's voice and stars of Youtube and Cosplay
Moustache, red dungarees and a podgy stomach: the world's most popular video game character is certainly no classic superhero. Since 1981, Italian plumber Super Mario has been jumping around and fighting in Nintendo's games. And it goes without saying that the protagonist of the most successful video game series to date (295 million games sold) will be coming to Switzerland's biggest game show when it is staged at Messe Zürich. To be more precise, this is Charles Martinet – the actor who provides Mario's voice and is a star of the scene. Fans can also indulge in the new Nintendo Switch Super Mario Odyssey.
In addition to Charles Martinet, Mario's voice actor, Maul Cosplay, Europe's most well-known male cosplayer will be coming to Zurich. YouTube fans can obtain autographs from Domtendo, the most popular German YouTuber, who has 900,000 subscribers, according to the organisers.
20,000 gamers at Messe Zürich
The organisers of the Zurich Game Show are the creators of the successful Fantasy Basel and the eSports Events Swiss Gaming Challenge. They are expecting more than 20,000 gamers over the three days. They will be able to try out games that are not yet commercially available, including Assassin's Creed Origins, Fire Emblem Warriors, Just Dance 2018 and Nintendo Switch Super Mario Odyssey.
Virtual Reality and Escape Rooms
Just imagine that you are trapped in a room and have to escape before the countdown has come to an end. To do that, you have to think logically under pressure of time and solve all the puzzles. Escape Game is the trend that will be connecting the real world to the virtual world at the Zurich Game Show and challenging gamers and brain athletes in the Red Bull Mind Gamers Container. In the big virtual and augmented reality section in Hall 7, visitors will be testing the latest VR glasses, immersing themselves in virtual worlds and finding out more about the intended uses of the trend technologies.
Other highlights of the Zurich Game Show include the eSports tournaments with prize money of CHF 15,000, racing simulators and panel discussions.
