Displaying a measure of flexibility during the crisis: Expomobilia adapts its product range

The trade fair and event sector is being hit particularly hard by the current situation surrounding the coronavirus pandemic. However, the Expomobilia team is currently proving that it is possible to tap new business areas by displaying the requisite measure of flexibility – even in this difficult situation.
At the moment, it is still unclear as to when the Expomobilia team will be able to get back to its core business. Nevertheless, the professionals in exhibition stand and event construction are making the best of the current situation: They have recently adapted their production facilities to help implement the protective measures against COVID-19. All of the locksmiths, carpenters, painters, advertising technicians and fitters in the workshops in Effretikon are producing protective materials, such as floor adhesive, counter guards and partition walls.

Supply adapted to demand
"By 13 March at the latest, i.e. when the Swiss Federal Council decided to ban events with more than 100 people, it was clear to us that we could no longer work on our planned projects until further notice," said Frank Marreau, Managing Director of Expomobilia. "At the same time, the protective measures were a much discussed topic in our network. The sectors that are allowed to resume work have to make short-term modifications to their practices, offices and shops so that they can comply with the current regulations. And this is where we saw our opportunity," added Marreau. For the time being, Expomobilia's workshops will therefore not be constructing exhibition stands and event structures; instead, they will be making protective walls for hairdressing salons, partition walls for open-plan offices and people-counting systems for the retail industry.

Making the best of the situation
A large number of clients are already using the new products from Expomobilia in their branches and salons and are grateful for the pragmatic solutions that can be quickly put into use. The team is also happy about the new tasks, confirmed Frank Marreau: "We are very grateful that our team immediately agreed to take on these new challenges. And we can see that they are enjoying applying their expertise to this special situation in a completely different area." Expomobilia's staff have also designed a special product for all those who are having to spend a lot of time at home at the moment – a specially designed raised bed that brings colour to the balcony or garden.
