ART SG, a new significant art fair for Singapore and Southeast Asia to have its first edition in November 2019

AngusMontgomery Arts, Tim Etchells and MCH Group announce plans for the fair: The inaugural edition of ART SG will take place from 1 - 3 November 2019 (Preview 31 October) at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. The organisers plan to create for Singapore and Southeast Asia region an annual art event, by engaging with established collectors as well as new buyers, and cultural enthusiasts. ART SG plans to showcase around 80 established and experimental contemporary art galleries from Singapore, Southeast Asia and the world, and the fair will provide the highest standards of design and build, as well as a quality visitor experience.

The organisers will draw on their experience of establishing new fairs in Hong Kong, with ART HK and Art Central, as well as Sydney Contemporary, Photo Shanghai and MCH’s development of its Regional Art Fair portfolio, including Art Düsseldorf and India Art Fair. 

From the opening of the National Gallery Singapore, to the development of Gillman Barracks as a destination arts precinct for art buyers, to its three art schools and well-regarded Biennale, Singapore has developed an exciting and dynamic art scene. ART SG will create an annual moment to attract collectors from across the region, and complement the existing Singapore Art Week held in January each year.  ART SG is supported and welcomed by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), the National Arts Council (NAC), and the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB).

We believe that the new fair will present fresh opportunities for Singapore gallerists and artists to be showcased alongside their international counterparts and to an international audience. The addition of a new fair also reinforces Singapore’s standing as the gateway to the visual arts scene in Southeast Asia, and accentuates our appeal as a cultural and lifestyle destination for art lovers.”

The relationship between AngusMontgomery Arts, Tim Etchells, and MCH to launch ART SG, rekindles their association forged through Art HK, founded by Etchells and Angus, which MCH then acquired.

Further details about the fairs ownership and director will be launched towards the end of 2018 with the development of the new website.
