Art Basel Hong Kong successfully concludes its 2025 edition
Art Basel Hong Kong 2025 closed its doors with resounding success, bringing together 240 galleries from 42 countries and territories, and attracting 91,000 visitors. The fair underscored Hong Kong’s significance as Asia’s premier art hub, delivering a dynamic program of exhibitions, performances, and conversations that engaged the global art community.
Art Basel Hong Kong 2025 concluded on March 30, marking another milestone in the fair’s history with robust participation and an energizing program that celebrated the vitality of Hong Kong’s art ecosystem. Hosted at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from March 28 to 30, with VIP previews on March 26 and 27, this year’s edition drew 240 galleries from around the world and welcomed 91,000 visitors, including collectors, curators, artists, and patrons from over 70 countries.

Institutional attendance was strong, with representatives from leading global museums such as the Museum of Modern Art (New York), Mori Art Museum (Tokyo), and M+ (Hong Kong), reinforcing the fair’s role as a vital platform for international cultural exchange. Galleries reported strong sales across all segments, placing works by celebrated artists including Yayoi Kusama, Zeng Fanzhi, and Tracey Emin into major private and institutional collections.

Art Basel Hong Kong 2025 also saw the debut of the MGM Discoveries Art Prize, awarded to Korean artist Shin Minand her gallery P21 for the bold installation Ew! There is hair in the food!! The artist received a USD 50,000 prize and an opportunity to exhibit in Macau.
The fair’s vibrant Public Program extended beyond the halls with city-wide activations, including the offsite Encounters presentation of Monster Chetwynd’s Lanternfly Ballet, supported by Swire Properties. A highlight was also Lu Yang’s immersive pop-up shop, engaging visitors with digital art and new media experiences.
Art Basel’s Film and Conversations Programs delivered compelling content curated by local institution Para Site and featured prominent voices such as artist Ho Tzu Nyen and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi’s Shabbir Hussain Mustafa. Live performances brought additional energy, including a commissioned piece by Natasha Tontey and a tech-forward performance by the duo Operator.
As digital innovation continues to shape the art world, Art Basel Hong Kong, in collaboration with TAEX, hosted the Digital Dialogues series, exploring the evolving intersection of art and technology.
Art Basel Hong Kong is supported by UBS as Global Lead Partner, alongside partners including the Hong Kong Tourism Board, Audemars Piguet, MGM, and others. The fair also benefits from the Mega ACE Fund, reinforcing Hong Kong’s position as a leading arts and cultural destination.
