Overview
Sustainability Management
In 2025, our sustainability approach continued to be guided by the DARE 2030 framework and our ambition: DARE to act. Empower to shine. Circular by design. Translating our ambitions into concrete action areas and targets across the Group.
DARE stands for:
Decarbonize – Reducing emissions towards net zero by 2050, with clear interim targets (–50% Scope 1 & 2 and –20% Scope 3 by 2030)
Accelerate – Driving economic, social and cultural impact through our platforms and partnerships
Rethink – Advancing circularity and efficiency, with the ambition of near-zero waste at our own events by 2030
Empower – Enabling our people, partners and suppliers to act sustainably through collaboration and knowledge sharing
In 2025, we further operationalized DARE by embedding sustainability into decision-making, procurement processes and event management, while strengthening our data foundation to support measurable progress.
Environment
In 2025, we made significant progress in improving data quality and transparency. Our enhanced carbon accounting approach, supported by digital tools such as Hydrus.AI, allows us to better measure, analyze and manage emissions across our global operations.
Key developments include:
– improved data coverage and refined methodologies for Scope 1–3 emissions
– measurable reductions in Scope 3 emissions, driven by better data and structural changes
– strong energy efficiency gains, with up to –34.6% electricity savings in optimized events
– increased focus on resource efficiency, circular materials and waste reduction
We also introduced new tools such as the CO₂ Infrastructure Report for guest events, enabling more transparent and informed decision-making across our value chain.
Social
In 2025, we strengthened our focus on empowering people and building sustainability competence across the organization. Through collaboration and knowledge sharing, we enable employees and partners to actively contribute to sustainable transformation.
Our priorities include:
– Promoting diversity at events like "women in science" at Ilmac
– knowledge sharing opportunities for employees for example in innovative materials
– introduce sustainable art to children at Art Basel
– investing in young talent through apprenticeships and internships
We aim to create an environment where people can grow, contribute and shape sustainable change together.
Economic Impact and Partnerships
As a platform for business, culture and community, MCH Group generates significant economic and societal value.
In 2025, our events and venues continued to act as drivers of regional development, innovation and exchange. Large-scale events such as the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 demonstrated both economic impact and the potential for sustainable event delivery at scale, generating substantial value for the region while integrating strong environmental and social measures.
We further strengthened our role as a connector and catalyst through:
– strategic partnerships across industries and value chains
– collaboration with initiatives such as the Gallery Climate Coalition and Net Zero Carbon Events
– support for innovation, start-ups and sustainable business models for example through the Rising Star Award at Igeho
In addition, our data-driven approach to sustainability enables us to actively support clients and partners in reducing their environmental impact and making more sustainable choices.
Governance
Sustainability is firmly embedded in our corporate governance structure. The Board of Directors holds ultimate responsibility, while the Group Management Team integrates ESG into strategic decisions.
Implementation is driven by the Global Sustainability Steering Council, a cross-functional body bringing together all business units to review material topics, monitor progress and define actions.
In 2025, governance maturity increased through:
– stronger integration of ESG into risk management and decision-making
– expanded supplier assessments and compliance processes
– continued rollout of policies and training based on our updated Code of Conduct
