With a new partnership, MCH Group and energy provider IWB are setting a strong example for sustainable development in the event industry. The collaboration focuses on significantly reducing energy consumption at events and promoting the shift toward low-emission operations. At the same time, the initiative supports long-term cost savings and reinforces MCH Group’s commitment to environmental and social responsibility.

MCH Group is intensifying its commitment to sustainability by entering into a strategic partnership with IWB, the energy supplier of the city of Basel. Together, they aim to reduce the energy consumption associated with events and to consistently advance the transformation of MCH Group into a low-emission event provider.

As part of this collaboration, IWB will supply electricity and combine it with measures for optimising consumption. IWB will also provide comprehensive energy consulting services - both for MCH Group’s own events and for guest organisers hosting events at the Basel exhibition and event halls.

“Sustainability is an integral part of our corporate strategy. The collaboration with IWB is an important step toward reducing our energy consumption and costs, while also fulfilling our responsibility toward the environment and society."

This initiative supports MCH Group’s overarching goal of reducing emissions -particularly those related to energy usage - by 50% by 2030 compared to the base year 2023. In doing so, MCH Group is actively contributing to the climate targets of the Canton of Basel-Stadt. A further objective of the collaboration is to sustainably reduce the company’s operational costs.

“Sustainability is an integral part of our corporate strategy. The collaboration with IWB is an important step toward reducing our energy consumption and costs, while also fulfilling our responsibility toward the environment and society,” says Roman Imgrüth, CEO Exhibitions and Events, MCH Group.

With this partnership, MCH Group is making a strong statement for the future of sustainable events - ecologically, economically, and strategically. “Sustainability in events has many different aspects. We are pleased to contribute with our proven expertise in energy efficiency for live occasions,” says Markus Balmer, Head of Sales at IWB.
