Art Basel continues to broaden its appeal beyond adult art enthusiasts, actively nurturing the next generation of art lovers through innovative and engaging family-friendly programs, sometimes in synergy with its partners, notably UBS, Art Basel Global Lead Partner. In 2024, these initiatives spanned Art Basel in Basel, Miami Beach, and Hong Kong, offering children unique opportunities to explore the world of art creatively.

At Art Basel in Basel, the Art Kids program, organized by Familycare Basel, provided children aged 4 to 12 with a safe and inspiring environment under the theme "City, Country, River." Located in Hall 1.1, the program featured hands-on activities such as 3D constructions using diverse materials, textile printing inspired by women artists, and a photo station with the letters B A S E L. Additionally, a Discovery & Play Area delighted young attendees with activities like a Bobbycar racetrack and bouncy castles, ensuring a playful and immersive experience. This year, 1,527 children participated, reflecting the growing appeal of the program. The fair in Basel also introduced Kids Tours for preschool-aged children (3–5 years), a first small pilot project aimed at guiding young children through large-scale artworks in the Unlimited section, sparking curiosity and early engagement with contemporary art.

At Art Basel in Miami Beach, the Art Kids program collaborated with the Miami Children's Museum to host a free playroom for children aged 4 to 11. The program engaged 197 children, who participated in activities such as arts and crafts, art history, and storytelling. These creative sessions allowed children to explore their imagination while parents enjoyed the fair. UBS, Art Basel’s Global Lead Partner, further enhanced access by providing nearly 1,000 complimentary tickets to local schools, such as KIPP Miami and the New World School of the Arts, fostering cultural engagement among students.

UBS also contributed to children and adult’s engagement at Art Basel Hong Kong via the UBS Art Studio, themed around city life. The program offered workshops led by Color My World, enabling children and adults to experience the joys of artistic expression. The studio also featured upcycled furniture, later donated to local kindergartens as part of a broader effort to support community resources.

These diverse programs underscore Art Basel’s commitment to making art an inclusive experience, engaging young audiences and fostering connections between art and local communities.
