MCH Group and Sandoase launch “Bambusnest”: an urban retreat in the historic Hall 2 building

From next summer, the Bambusnest ("bamboo nest") project, a cooperation between Sandoase and MCH Group, will revitalise the historic round courtyard of Messe Basel with an exciting mix of beach bar vibes and food market. In the midst of the hustle and bustle of the city, the Bambusnest sees itself as an urban retreat focussing on relaxation and encounters. Natural elements, a wonderful variety of plants and a diverse culinary offering will characterise the cross-generational meeting place.

Two concepts for summer and winter

After-work vibes, refreshing drinks, delicious street food and a variety of events: while white sand and giant palm trees put the courtyard in a holiday mood from July to September, the Bambusnest is transformed into a unique “Winter Market” from October to March. During the summer months, various bar and street food areas whisk guests away to an exciting culinary experience with Asian bao buns, Italian pinsas, creative bowls, fruity cocktails and fresh smoothies. Just in time for the start of the autumn fair, the location will be transformed into a hip “Winter Market”. Colourful hustle and bustle, Gluehwein, and wintery food will be at the heart of the cold season. In romantic gondolas and cosy yurts, small groups can feast on savoury fondue, while all around, visitors can enjoy the relaxed atmosphere at the numerous market stalls and have a cozy chat.

Cooperation between Sandoase and MCH Group

The Bambusnest is a concept developed by Basel-based Sandoase in collaboration with MCH Group. As is well known, MCH has set itself the goal of revitalising and enhancing the area around the Messeplatz under the term “Messe-Quartier”.

“The Bambusnest is also intended to strengthen our core business of exhibitions and congresses by creating a more attractive experience for organisers, exhibitors and visitors.”

Roman Imgrüth, CEO Exhibitions & Events

“The well-known round courtyard will become a year-round meeting place for the population of the neighbourhood and the entire region, an important first step in our plans for the Messe-Quartier,” explains Roman Imgrüth, CEO Exhibitions & Events at MCH Group. “The Bambusnest is also intended to strengthen our core business of exhibitions and congresses by creating a more attractive experience for organisers, exhibitors and visitors.”

Fabian Oser from Sandoase adds: “It’s great that we at Sandoase are able to utilise this inspiring and historically significant location. Whether as a meeting place for friends, a relaxing time-out alone or as a place for socialising, the Bambusnest promises to be a hotspot and new favourite place for warm and cold days and nights. We look forward to welcoming all guests to the Bambusnest.”
